19 28 “From the dew of heaven     and the richness of the earth, may God always give you abundant harvests of grain and bountiful new wine. 29 May many nations become your servants,     and may they bow down to you.

20 May you be the master over your brothers,     and may your mother’s sons bow down to you. All who curse you will be cursed,     and all who bless you will be blessed.”

21

22

23 39 Finally, his father, Isaac, said to him [Esau], “You will live away from the richness of the earth, and away from the dew of the heaven above. 40 You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. But when you decide to break free, you will shake his yoke from your neck.”

24

25 26But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
27 So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” 28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Genesis 32:26-28

26 1Now this is the genealogy of Esau,
who is Edom… 43These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession. Esau was the father of the Edomites. Genesis 36

27 Edom, Moab and Ammon are today's Jordan. Ammon is the capital.

28 “This is how I showed my love for you:
I loved your ancestor Jacob, 3 but I rejected his brother, Esau, and devastated his hill country. I turned Esau’s inheritance into a desert for jackals.” Malachi 1:2-3

29 She was told, “Your older son will serve your younger son
She was told, “Your older son will serve your younger son.” 13 In the words of the Scriptures, “I loved Jacob, but I rejected Esau.” Romans 9:12-13

30 [Esau] didn’t sell his birthright because he was so hungry that he was about to perish…but because his was a desire of the flesh and he was willing to trade all of his spiritual heritage for a whim of the moment.

31 The man who had the birthright was in contact with God, and he was
the priest of his family. He was the man who had a covenant from God. He was the man who had a relationship with God.

32 In effect, Esau said, “I would rather have a bowl of soup than have a
relationship with God.” J.V. McGee

39 OLD NATURE (Esau) NEW NATURE

40 16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives
16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants.

41 so you are not free to carry out
And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Galatians 5:16-17

42 What Next?

43 What Next? 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

44 What Next? 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus
have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5

45 No, Not One

46 There’s no a friend like the lowly Jesus No not one! No not one!
None else could heal all our soul’s diseases

47 Jesus know all about our struggles,
He will guide ‘til the day is done; There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus No, not one! No, not one!
