Monologue: A speech made by a person (to express their thoughts) in the company of others.
Soliloquy: A speech made by a person (to express their thoughts) while they are alone.

Shakespearean Language
Shakespeare is responsible for inventing about 1,700 words that we use in the English language today. Some of these words include: addiction, countless, birthplace, champion, gloomy and flawed. The language that you see in Shakespeare’s plays is also known as Early Modern English.

What is a Shakespearean Sonnet?
A poem of 14 lines 3 quatrains and 1 couplet Rhyme scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GG The poem tells a story. The first twelve lines usually tell a cohesive story while the couplet at the end presents some sort of a “twist.”

Profane: The teacher was not happy when the student used a profane expression during class.
Strife: She sensed the unseen scars of war and strife buried beneath the surface of the hardened man before her.

Adversary: I felt conflicted when my sister didn’t approve of my decision because then she became the adversary of what was important to me. Pernicious: He had a pernicious disease at the young age of 49.
