1 E-Learning Tools in The Classroom
Lydia Waugh

2 What is E-Learning? E-learning can be defined as educating by electronic means (Stockley, 2003) Before starting this topic it was important to first think about and understand what e-learning actually is, why it is used and why it is effective. E-learning can be defined as educating by electronic means (Stockley, 2003) in other words, using technology that is all around us every day to benefit our education. E-learning tools support different types of learners and can allow faster, more practical delivery of lessons, as well as often supporting students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia or visual problems (REF) There are so many opertunities to create different types of e-learning tools that simply cannot be done with pens and paper, electronic methods help to develop a childs cognitive skills as well as making planning and delivering lessons easier for teachers (REF)

3 Session 1 Session 2 Session 3
The whole topic I am looking to focus on is teaching children about healthy eating, so possible within a PSHE or food tech lesson. The learning objectives would be to help children gain more of an understanding of what foods make up their five a day, why it is important to eat these things and a general undertsnding of what different foods are. The lessons would be very basic as aimed at 4-5 year olds. During the first session, the children would watch a video that talks about the importance of eating five a day. The video would be about 10 minutes long and the children would be asked to, afterards, write down what they remember from the video. During the second session, the children would play a game involving spellings and identifying the different fruits, which I will talk about in more detail later. Finally, the children will do a quiz as a whole class made on kahoot that asks them to click and drag five healthy foods into a basket from a selection of pictures of other food, also helping them with their counting.

4 Pictures of game The elearning tool I will use in my second session is a game where children are presented with lots of pictures of fruit and vegetables alongside some jumbled up letters that spell the name of the fruit or veg, they have to mix them up to spell it right, the game gives them a tick or a cross if they get the answer right or wrong so it is very visual and easy for the child to see if they are incorrect, the game will also tell them the right answer at the end. It would look something like this They would do this game in pairs on computers which also helps them to develop teamwork skills (REF)

5 Understanding a healthy lifestyle
Helps children with…. Spellings Understanding a healthy lifestyle The main things however that this session helps children with is their spellings of fairly simple works as well as some difficult ones, and their understanding of a healthy lifestyle. Link to theories, why do you want them to do these things

6 Multimedia principle- words and pictures
Contiguity principle- words and pictures together, same time Coherence principle- all content is relevant Voice principle- conversational spoken words Signaling principle- animation with narration Within this presentation I have used the multimedia principles of I would also use these within my classroom activity powerpoint to help the tasks be clear to the children
