Travel We are travelling by Selwyns Coach leaving at 8.15am. This will mean children will need to be in school by 8.00am. The coach will be staying with us in London for emergency purposes.

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Fraser, Miss Binns Other adults: Mrs May (Miss Davis) All adults on the residential are Emergency First Aid trained.

Natural History Museum
The coach will drop us off at the Natural History Museum to look around and experience a practical session run by museum staff. Then it’s back on the bus, on to the YHA to unpack, have dinner and then an evening stroll of the local area, taking photos of St. Paul’s and the sights. This is in small groups.

Accommodation We are staying at the London St Paul’s YHA
The accommodation is clean, well organised and the facilities are very good.

London eye On Thursday 22nd June, after breakfast, we go by Tube to the London Eye where have a capsule booked. There are 32 capsules on the London Eye. It takes 30 minutes to go all the way around. We then have a river cruise booked for straight after. Each year 3.5 million people go on the London Eye. After both experiences, we will eat a packed lunch in Jubilee Gardens, right by the London Eye.

Houses of parliament We will then walk over Westminster Bridge to the Houses of Parliament for a tour and a People’s Parliament session after eating our lunch. There are 3 main towers. There are 1000 rooms in the Houses of Parliament.

Big Ben Of course seeing Big Ben! The tower was finished in 1858.
The hour hand is 2.7 metres long and the minute hand is 4.3 metres long. Big Ben is part of Houses of Parliament. After the visit to Parliament, we travel by Tube, back the YHA for some food, ready for the evening activity.

SCHOOL OF ROCK at the NEW LONDON THEATRE
After dinner at the YHA we will travel by Tube to the New London Theatre which is showing School of Rock and we will be watching at 7.30pm. After the show, we will jump on the Tube and travel a couple of stops back to the YHA, ready for a well-earned sleep!

Harry Potter studios And on our final day, we travel by coach to the Harry Potter Studios just outside of London. We will spend three hours there from 11am with a lunch stop.

safety MH has visited all places conducting a pre-visit tour.
Staff Training – One member of staff has a full First Aid Qualification – All adults have a Emergency First Aid Qualification – Two staff have Administering Medication Training – One member of staff has TeamTeach (positive handling training) Full Risk Assessments have been conducted for all stages of the visit, either by school or by the attractions. All children will be provided with a high-visibility jacket and a baseball cap for the duration of the visit. 1:6 ratio for walking between venues or in group activities.

Name tags and luggage labels Please clearly mark all of their belongings with their name and their entire luggage with a label showing student name and school name. Children will need to be able to carry their own luggage from the coach to their accommodation. Items Not to Bring Mobile phones Computer games Jewellery either expensive or of a sentimental value Items of value or sentimental value. Sharp or dangerous objects Packed lunch needed on Day 1 – sweets can be brought.

Further information Groups
The children will be in 5 groups for the day – we will be together for most activities but in groups for the Natural History Museum and the Harry Potter Studios. Spending Money TBC – Harry Potter experience is very expensive with wands retailing at £ Opportunities to spend money at Natural History Museum and the Harry Potter Studios. School Mobile Phone Number (emergency use only) Medication Any medication stated on the Form C that needs to be administered should be clearly labelled, prescribed by a Doctor and the appropriate forms completed.
