Successful or failure? When was it established?
South Carolina was a huge success due to their large plantations. Sold 1 million pounds of indigo each year The colony was established in 1712 while originally being named the Province of South Carolina.

Why was the colony established?
It was established because of a land grant from Charles 2 to 8 men that were called the ‘Lords Proprietors’. Who founded or established the colony? King Charles 2

What did South Carolina produce to export and make money?
Had a huge plantation that grew things such as: Cotton Tobacco Vegetables Fruit livestock Also relied on slavery to keep their operations going and profitable

Who made up the colonists?
The population was about 180,000 with about 97,000 African-Americans due to slavery in the colony.

The Founder King Charles II
was founded in 1663 when King Charles II gave the land to eight noble men known as the Lords Proprietors.

Geography and climate Climate:
South Carolina’s climate is subtropical, with very hot and humid summers and mild winters. Geography: South Carolina is triangular and shape and has an even coast lined with beautiful sand beaches.

Religious Practices Until the early 1700s, all religious groups in South Carolina were able to freely practice their faith. The three main religions were Anglicans, dissenters from the Church of England, called nonconformists, and French Huguenots.

Food in the colony In the southern American Colonies, the wealthy dined on roast beef and many other types of meat, while the poorer classes, servants and slaves ate more humble foods, such as corn bread, greens, pork, fried chicken and organ meats.

Fun activities Many children or their parents made their toys out of scraps and things that were not needed. Little girls in Colonial times made their dolls out of corn husks, rags, scraps, and sometimes carved, dried apples as heads. The boys used sticks as imaginary horses. Children enjoyed spinning tops made of leftover wood and string. Children were often left without supervision and were left to play in the field or house.

Interesting facts The name 'Carolina' originated from the Latin word for Charles - 'Carolus'. The original colony that encompassed both North and South Carolina was founded by the Lords Proprietors under a Royal Charter granted by King Charles II.
