1 Status of MXCuBE Beamline Control at BESSY II
2018/5/20 Status of MXCuBE Beamline Control at BESSY II Alexandra Kastner, on behalf of the HZB MX group MXCuBE Meeting, January 2017, ESRF Grenoble find a good intro I would like to give you a brief overview, what happened since our last MxCube meeting atBESSY II Give a short overview of topics

2 Overview of MX Beamlines at BESSY II
2018/5/20 Overview of MX Beamlines at BESSY II Sample preparation lab Terminal center BL14.1 BL14.2 BL14.1 – 14.3 optics hutch Spectro lab BL14.3 We are currently facing a rather long shutdown, due to general upgrade and maintenance of BESSY II The long shut-down gives us some user-free time which we want to use for concentrating on our own upgrade-work on beeamline 14.2. But on the other hand - we have no beam during this period, so we are a bit handicapped in testing and finalize things. Anyway, we are strongly focused on getting Beamline 14.2 in operation until mid of January when user operation starts again. Before I give you a closer look at the status of BL 14.2 , I first would like to talk about our MxCube activities at BESSY II. Scarce but anyhow. Shared optics hutch for all three MX-Beamlines 2 MAD beamlines BL14.1 and BL from 5.5 keV to 15.5 keV One fixed energy side station BL at 13.8 keV

3 MX Beamlines at BESSY II
2018/5/20 MX Beamlines at BESSY II BL 14.1 BL 14.3 Multi-axis goniometer MD2 with MK3 PILATUS 6M (12 Hz) Irelec CATS sample changer Marresearch Desktop Beamline (DTB) Rayonix Mosaic 225 Manual sample mounting First of all: thanks again to Vicente for spending the whole week on our system. This helped us a lot and we were able to remove several obstacles. One was the communication between MD2 and HWO, which did not update when beamposition changed. This works now. Then we could improve the handling of MD2 motors the sample centring. Next we managed to enable a chained load for the sample changer and also have an automatically refreshed display of the sample list which did not work for us before. These were our most severe show-stoppers which could be removed, but some things still needed to be done.

4 Major upgrade of hardware Plate manipulator

5 User operation since September 2016 - First structure solved !
2018/5/20 BL14.2 Setup User operation since September First structure solved ! Nanodiffractometer G-Rob from NatX-ray Stäubli arm Dewar from Absolute Systems During our work on MxCubeV2 with Vicente, we observed many crashes, mainly when PyMCA-related operations were performed. This could be solved by changing the operation system. Since we are using Debian 7 instaed of Scientific Linux, we had no more crashes. One remaining problem we still have to deal with is the interaction of certain signals in MxCube. For example one could start a sample changer action while data collection is still running. This should be prevented. So - unfortunately- we are still not in user operation with MxCube at Beamline 141. Even more severe than any issues is the booking situation at BL 14.1, because of lacking BL 142, there is no shift left for development. Users first. Pilatus 3S 2M
