The size of the signal from the centromere probe (red) is different in the i(12p) and this can be seen in interphase cells. The signal from the centromere probe is flanked by signal from a 12p marker (green) in the i(12p) chromosome. The nucleus shows three copies of a normal 12 chromosome and three copies of an i(12p) chromosome (circled).
