Resume tips 1 page resumes are best for beginners.
I don’t have any experience, what should I do? Get some—volunteer, talk to other people, get involved! Use key words that are relevant. (The employer might use software for interview and job selection.) Ask someone else to proofread your resume. Objective should state the job you want. For example, “Position as a cook with ABC Food Service.” Show what you ACCOMPLISHED, not only what you’ve done.

Preparing for the interview
Some employers might check your social media pages. Be careful what you post! Find out information about the company with whom you are interviewing. (Talk to current employees, research on line, etc.) Practice answering questions with someone. Find general interview questions on line. Write a list of questions to ask during the interview. (Don’t only ask about pay, time off and benefits. Find out about company policies, how the job is done, or how your work might be judged.) Get help from your COLLEGE PLACEMENT OFFICE or high school GUIDANCE COUNSELOR.
6
DURING THE INTERVIEW Dress appropriately—dress pants, appropriate skirt, a shirt with a collar, dress shoes. Arrive 15 minutes early. Know where you are going. Have good eye contact with the interviewer. Speak confidently! Answer only the question asked, avoid TMI. Ask appropriate questions. When will they make a decision about hiring? Get the interviewer’s contact information ( at a minimum). Most will have a business card.
7
AFTER THE INTERVIEW Send the interviewer a thank you!
Evaluate your own performance—what did you do well, what could you have done better? Check your status by ing or calling the interviewer if you haven’t heard anything within the designated time frame. Don’t constantly bother the interviewer.
