2 Term #36 The 14th Amendment Amendment #14-Equal Rights
Every who is a United States Citizen is under equal protection of the law and anyone who does not abide by the law is subjected to equal punishment. The President is held accountable for the same laws as the citizens.

3 Term #37 The 15th Amendment Amendment #15- The right to vote
The 15th Amendment to the Constitution granted African American men the right to vote. Through the use of poll taxes, literacy tests and other means, Southern states were able to effectively disenfranchise African Americans. It would take the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 before the majority of African Americans in the South were registered to vote.

4 Term #38 The 16th Amendment The 16th Amendment-Income Tax
This amendment gives the federal government the power to tax a person's income. These income taxes can be used to pay for the government's new programs. Taxes are not based on a flat rate but can change according to the amount of income earned. The richer you are, the more taxes you pay. If you're poor, you get a break.

5 Term #39 The 17th Amendment The 17th Amendment-Direct election of Senators. It makes senators elected by popular vote instead of by the state legislature. it also mentions that the governor can elect a temporary senator if there is a vacancy that needs to be filled until the people vote for a new senator.

6 Term #40 The 18th Amendment The 18th Amendment-Prohibition
This amendment was repealed by the 21st amendment. It is the only amendment to be repealed. The 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibited the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol.
