2. How to make a verb past tense
A past tense verb tells about an action that ALREADY HAPPENED
Add an “ed” at the end of verbs
Drop the e and add ed to verbs that end in e.
Example: dance  danced

3. Special Rules! For words that end with y:
Change the y to I before adding the ed.
Example: carry  carri  carried
2. Double the consonant (letters that are not vowels) and add ed to verbs that END with one vowel and a consanant.
wag  wagged

4. Examples: Turn these verbs from the present tense to the past tense:
March  marched
Burn  burned
Roll  rolled
Cry  cried
Bag  bagged

6. Using Commas
We use commas to separate three or more words in a series.
Example: I like apples, oranges, and bananas.
Do not use a comma after the last word in a series.
Example: Basketball, baseball, and football are great games.
Use commas between the day and year in a date:
Example: May 3, 2010
