2 How to make a verb past tense
A past tense verb tells about an action that ALREADY HAPPENED Add an “ed” at the end of verbs Drop the e and add ed to verbs that end in e. Example: dance  danced

3 Special Rules! For words that end with y:
Change the y to I before adding the ed. Example: carry  carri  carried 2. Double the consonant (letters that are not vowels) and add ed to verbs that END with one vowel and a consanant. wag  wagged

4 Examples: Turn these verbs from the present tense to the past tense:
March  marched Burn  burned Roll  rolled Cry  cried Bag  bagged

5 More Examples Joke  joked Flap  flapped Soar  soared Walk  walked
Flip  flipped

6 Using Commas We use commas to separate three or more words in a series. Example: I like apples, oranges, and bananas. Do not use a comma after the last word in a series. Example: Basketball, baseball, and football are great games. Use commas between the day and year in a date: Example: May 3, 2010

7 Where do the commas go? Examples
Nancy likes to eat Chinese Italian and Mexican food. Juan enjoys movies video games and playing outside. Today is December Laura has to go to the store the bank and the post office today.
