2. The Hermitage
The State Hermitage Museum is located in St. Petersburg – the cultural capital of Russia. It is one of the largest museums in the world.The museum was founded in 1764 by Catherin the Great and has been open to the public since 1852.
Today, the Hermitage is a complex museum. Its main exhibition is located in five buildings situated in the center of St. Petersburg along the Neva river. The main building of the complex is the Winter Palace.

The Bolshoi Theatre is one of the oldest and biggest theatres in Russia. It is also one of the most famous opera and ballet theatres in the world. It was built between 1821 and 1824.

It is the best known symbol of France and Paris. It was named after Gustav Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower in 1889. The tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world. The tower is 324 metres tall.

8. The Kremlin Palace
The Moscow Kremlin is one of the most famous sights of Russia and the symbol of former Soviet authority. It is a long red brick wall with 20 towers, which were built at the end of the 15th century on the order of Ivan the Great.

9. The Spasskaya Tower
The most famous and important tower is the Spasskaya Tower, which leads to Red Square. The tower was put up in 1491 by an Italian architect Pietro Solario. It has a belfry(колокольня), a ruby star(рубиновая звезда) and the chimes(куранты), which are broadcast by radio as a time signal to the whole nation.

The Statue of Liberty is one of the main sights of New York City and the symbol of freedom of all Americans. It’s the statue of a graceful woman with the flare in her hand, which enlightens the world. The structure of the woman is colossal. Its total height is about 93 meters. The woman only, without the flare and the base, is 46 meters.

11. Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is one of the major tourist attractions in London. It is the official residency o the British monarchy. At the moment British monarchy is led by Queen Elizabeth II. Each time the royal family is in the palace, a flag flies on the roof. The palace was built in 1705 by the Duke of Buckingham.
