1 INTEGRATING DATA FROM OTHER SOURCES
ALIMATU VANDI

2 PRESENTATION OUTLINE Background of the adoption of SDGs( country specific) Proposed data sources ( traditional surveys & census)(possible new data sources)

3 BACKGROUND OF THE ADOPTION OF SDGs in Sierra Leone
The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) welcomes the launch of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (the UN SDGs) to succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which shows the demonstrated commitment by the UN to guide and support global development.

4 As a country we know the importance ;
Set-up and implement effective national monitoring and evaluation systems to effectively track and report on development progress. Clearly map all relevant MDAs and other stakeholder in relation to their roles and responsibilities in following up and reporting on SDGs progress

5 A technical workshop was organized for two days in December 2015 to draft a local monitoring and evaluation framework for the SDGs by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Participants for this workshop were from government institutions, civil society organizations and representatives of donor agencies.

6 DATA SOURCES Providing data to monitor the SDGs
Revisit the methodologies (surveys , administrative sources), revisit the target population of the traditional surveys and census Conduct new surveys e.g. Disability Source data from MDAs

7 The workshop produced:
The Goals Proposed SL Indicators Baseline Source of baseline figure (Date) Notes Comments Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere.  Proportion of male population in multi-dimensional poverty 47.50% Sierra Leone Multidimensional Poverty Index (SLIHS,2011) the 47.5% is of 'male-headed households' and not really 'male population' Proportion of female population in multi-dimensional poverty 43.80% the 43.8% is of 'female-headed households' and not really 'female population' Proportion of children in multi-dimensional poverty Sierra Leone Child Poverty Index No measure or proxy is available for this at the moment Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture 2.1.2 Proportion of male population in food poverty 2.1.3 Proportion of female population in food poverty The workshop produced: (i) a draft national integrated results framework, aligning the SDGs to the monitoring and evaluation of the Agenda for Prosperity(A4P), as the defining national development plan; and (ii) a draft set of Sierra Leone specific SDGs indicators based on the 17 SDGs and 169 targets to monitor locally. So far, 91 indicators have been proposed for the country out of the 169 SDGs targets to monitor.
