Specialist nursing support: Admiral nurses
Admiral nurses provide: Emotional and psychological support. Single point of contact to help join different health and social care services. Teach about dementia and skills to better communicate with the dementia patient. Liaise with other health and social care professionals on your behalf

Aims Process evaluation:
How does the service work, what does it do, with whom, etc. Outcomes What does the service achieve? Costs How much does it cost to fund the service? Does it deliver any savings? Engaging carers of people with dementia Are postal questionnaires feasible?

Methods: 6 work packages
1 What is the support provided? 2 What outcomes do carers want? How do we measure these outcomes 3 Survey of carers in areas with (N=270) and without service (N=320) What are the costs? What are the outcomes? 4 What is the perception about the added value of the service? 5 How can the service improve its routine data collection? 6 Guidance

What do carers want from the service? How to measure it? Resource use and costs How to obtain information on resource use: health care services, social care services, informal care time and voluntary services. Feasibility How to achieve a good response rate? Analysis How to control for differences in carers with and without the service?
