3 The Cup Storyline Simeon held as “collateral” (42:29-38)
Jacob reluctantly agreed for Benjamin to go the second time (43:1-15) Joseph’s emotional response (43:16-44) His own silver cup put in Benjamin’s bag (44:1-13)

4 Theft of Time Stole 13 years of his life Couldn’t do as he wanted
Eventually falsely imprisoned

5 Theft of Time How can it happen? Time belongs to God (John 4:35)
Yet, used by us the way we want to use it (Luke 12:42-46)

6 Theft of Time Are we guilty?
Does Jesus rein in our hearts? (Romans 10:9, 10) Be careful (James 4:17; 1 Peter 1:17)

7 Theft of Honor Favorite son Not good for parents to do
Still should have respected their brother Envious of him (Acts 7:9; 1 Peter 2:1)

8 Theft of Honor How can this be done?
Fail to recognize His authority (Matthew 28:18) Not enough to just call Him “Lord” (Luke 6:46)

9 Theft of Honor Are we guilty?
Does He reign in your heart? (Romans 10:9, 10) Are we bearing His cross, and doing His work (Luke 9:23, 24; 19:10)

10 Theft of Love Their brother Where was their brotherly love?
Deprived of his family

11 Theft of Love How can this be done?
Love proven by obedience (John 14:15) Must be active like faith (James 2:15, 16, 24; 1 John 3:17, 18)

12 Theft of Love Are we guilty?
Days pass with no evidence of our love? (Hebrews 13:1; 1 John 4:16-20) Desire to be in His presence and with others who love Him? (Hebrews 10:24)

13 Conclusion Denied their theft (Genesis 44:7)
Will that be our reaction?
