2 Double Major vs Dual Degree
2 majors within the same college that are identical degree types Chemistry (BS) and Microbiology (BS) Dual Degree 2 majors within the same college that are different degree types Chemistry (BS) and English (BA) 2 majors from 2 different colleges regardless of degree type Chemistry (CLAS) and Food and Resource Economics (CALS)

3 Basic Criteria for Duals & Doubles
Need UF GPA 3.0 or 3.50 depending on combination Need to have completed Term 5 tracking for both majors Generally the case for all colleges Must have 15 credits of non-overlap between both majors Complete both majors within 4-5 fall/spring semesters at UF Deadline is before 96 credits earned

5 Minors Most are 15 credits
Need UF GPA of 2.00, some require higher GPA Complete at least one course in the minor Must have 6-9 hrs of unique courses (non-overlap) between other minors and majors Must have 9 hours of unique courses (non-overlap) between a minor and a certificate Check with your college advisor in terms of maximum allowed to declare Download form from Signature from primary college Signature from college that owns the minor Some minors require additional department signature

6 Certificates Credits vary from 18 – 24
GPA requirement varies by department UF GPA requirement Certificate coursework GPA requirement Must have 9 hours of unique courses (non-overlap) between a minor and a certificate Application process Discuss with the department – some might have an initial internal application Apply for the certificate the semester prior to graduating on the Admissions website Will receive a document confirming certification of the area of study

7 Research & Internships
Students have the option of earning academic credit from research and/or internship experience. Department credit to be applied towards your major. Discuss with your undergraduate coordinator. Requires approval from the department prior to the experience. Students have the option to request non-major related research or internship to count as a general elective. Research (non-major related) Contact the department providing the experience and complete their application process to receive credit for research. Internship (non-major related) CLAS offers General Internship Credit. Prior approval is required before the experience. Specific application deadline for each semester.

8 Study Abroad Many students “Go Global” with their major, minor or certificate. Variety of overseas studies programs with course opportunities to count towards your academic interests. Also check with the department advisors for programs specific for majors, minors and certificates. Programs offered throughout the year. Fall Spring Summer

9 Timeline to Complete Dual Degree/Double Major or Minors
Generally CLAS Transfer Students are expected to graduate within 4 fall/spring semesters. However, consideration for an additional semester is usually not a problem if you are planning to complete: A dual degree or double major A minor A certificate If you are not able to attend school full-time, it is not a problem. Please meet with an academic advisor at Farrior Hall regularly to map out a plan that works best for you.

10 When to Meet With a CLAS Academic Advisor to Discuss These Topics?
It is highly recommended that if you are thinking about pursuing any of these opportunities to enhance you academic experience to meet with an academic advisor within your first two semesters at UF.
