5 New Courses for 2017-2018 School Year English Department
College Entrance Exam Standardized Test Preparation (Reading/Writing) This nine-week standardized test preparation course will familiarize students with the format of the SAT/ACT while teaching effective test-taking techniques and strategies. There will be a comprehensive review of those Mathematics concepts and skills that are tested, via the SAT/ACT.

6 New Courses for 2015-2016 School Year Social Studies Department
American Politics CHS This course replaces AP US Government. Students will learn both about the American Political System and about broad concepts social scientists use to study politics. Pre-requisite: Final grade of “A” or “B” in Honors Global Studies or in AP European History and teacher recommendation.

7 New Courses for 2015-2016 School Year Math Department
College Entrance Exam Standardized Test Preparation (Mathematics) This nine-week standardized test preparation course will familiarize students with the format of the SAT/ACT while teaching effective test-taking techniques and strategies.

8 New Courses for 2015-2016 School Year Math Department
Calculus III This class is for students that have completed AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC. Pre-requisite- Recommendation from Mr. Braidic only.

9 New Update for 2015-2016 School Year Math Department
Business Calculus (CHS) MHS Course Prerequisite: Final grade of 93% or higher in Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry. University of Pittsburgh Course Prerequisite: Satisfactory score on the college placement exam for enrollment in the course for college credit.

10 New Update for 2015-2016 School Year Math Department
Algebra III This course replaces the Algebra III/Trigonometry. The course will cover Algebraic concepts and statistics, no Trigonometry. Prerequisite - Satisfactory completion of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.

11 New Update for 2015-2016 School Year Math Department
Statistics This course can only be taken in conjunction with an additional mathematics course. Prerequisite - Satisfactory completion of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.

12 New Course for the 2015-2016 school year Engineering & Technology Department
Computer Integrated Manufacturing This full year course provides an opportunity for students to recognize many of the exciting career opportunities in the manufacturing industry. This course is one of the specialization courses in the PLTW Engineering program. Students must have completed with at least a 73% or higher Introduction to Engineering and Design

13 New Course for the 2015-2016 school year World Language Department
American Sign Language This year long introductory Sign Language course will offer students the opportunity to study the structure and vocabulary of ASL as well as Deaf culture and literature. Students will also study the differences between signed communication here in America and around the world.

14 New Course for the 2015-2016 school year Music Department
Music Technology Production II This course reinforces MIDI recording and editing techniques through various projects. Students will focus on using Pro Tools to edit and create music throughout the semester. Pre-requisite- Successfully completed Music Technology I.

15 New Course for the 2015-2016 school year Physical/Health Education Department
Partners Physical Education This specially designed course is intended to include students of a diverse population, who are not able to participate in the unrestricted Physical Education Program. These students are joined with by students without restrictions and together all students help each other achieve the goals of the Physical Education class.

16 New Updates for the 2015-2016 school year Physical/Health Education
Students are required to complete one (1) credit of Physical/Heath Education. Students are not permitted to schedule and participate in more than one (1) credit of Physical/Health Education, per school year, without the prior approval of the High School Principal.

17 New Guidelines for the 2015-2016 school year
Dual Enrollment Must complete an application and submit documentation from college/university Work Study Must complete application and submit documentation from employer Independent Study Must complete application and signature from teacher of record

18 Teachers will make all recommendations for core courses and foreign language selections using the grade specific Course Request Sheet

22 DEADLINE Bring your signed registration form to your history class on
Wednesday, April 15th OR Thursday, April 16th

23 REMINDERS Core subject teachers will complete and sign the scheduling form. Schedule no less than 6 credits or no more than 7 credits. Check to see that you have the required credits for graduation. Check to see that you meet the prerequisites for a course.

24 REMINDERS List alternative electives on the bottom of your sheet. These are required in case there is a conflict with your selections. Forms are to be reviewed and signed by your parent/guardian. Bring the form to your history class on Wednesday (4/15) or Thursday (4/16).

25 REMINDERS The Course of Study handbook is available on the website.
