Definition of Assessment:
Is the process of documenting, usually in measurable terms, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs.

Different Types of assessment:
Formative and Summative Assessment Objective and Subjective Assessment Criterion-referenced and Norm-referenced Assessment Informal and Formal Assessment There are many different assessment in the world but these four listed are the most important distinctions.

Summative and Formative Assessment:
Summative Assessment: Is generally carried out at the end of a course or project. Formative Assessment: Is generally carried out throughout a course or project. There are two other forms for Formative Assessment which is diagnostic and self assessment.

Objective and subjective assessment:
Objective Assessment: Is a form of questioning which has a single correct answer. Objective questions include true/false, multiple choice, multiple-response and matching questions. Subjective Assessment: Is a form of questioning which may have more than on current answer(or more than one way of expressing the correct answer. Subjective questions include extended-response questions and essays.

Criterion-referenced and Norm-referenced Assessment:
Criterions-referenced assessment: Typically using a criterion-referenced test, as the name implies, occurs when candidates are measured against defined (and objective) criteria. Examples: Driver ED test or Performance test Norm-referenced assessment: Is a type of assessment or evaluation which yields an estimate of the position of the tested individual in a predefined population, with respect to the trait being measured. Examples: EOCE or FSA

Informal and Formal Assessment:
Formal assessment: Is usually a written document. Formal assessment is given a numerical score or grade based on student performance. Examples: Test, Quiz, or Paper Informal assessment: Does not contribute to a student’s final grade. Examples: Observations, Inventories, Participation, Peer and self evaluation, and Discussion.

Task for the students: Now since you learned about different assessment and how they work. You have to write 3 Multiple choice questions and 2 True/False questions based on the article you read in the beginning of class, don’t forget you must include one of the assessment types in each question.
