AIMS OF THE RESEARCH
1. Evaluate current methods of collecting qualitative student feedback on modules and staff performance in the WLS
2. Propose improvements to the current model to increase overall staff and student satisfaction with the feedback process
METHODOLOGY
Two student-led focus groups with Law students from different year groups held in June 2016
An online anonymous student-designed survey sent by departmental s to all Law students and shared on the Law Society Facebook page in June 2016

Evaluation at the end of the module in the final lecture using several paper forms to evaluate module and staff performance
Paper forms analysed centrally; convenors given results some months later
RECOMMENDATION ONE
More feedback opportunities with more notice
Departmental response:
Feedback will now be collected in fixed ‘Feedback weeks’ at the mid-point and end of all modules. Regular reminders will be sent in the weekly WLS student newsletter
An anonymous online WLS feedback form will be open all year to allow students to feedback on all modules and on the department generally at any point as issues arise
RECOMMENDATION TWO
Collect feedback electronically
Departmental response:
Mid-point module evaluations will now be conducted using an online form
End-of-module evaluations will be conducted at the start of the final lecture. The use of Responseware to collect feedback will be piloted in some modules in academic year 2016/7
There will now be an anonymous online WLS feedback form open all year
RECOMMENDATION THREE
Feedback forms should include guided questions and response to feedback should be timely
Departmental response:
Module convenors will be invited to modify standard feedback forms to encourage students to comment on specific issues
Module convenors will respond to mid-point evaluations promptly and will pilot the use of online end-of-module evaluations to accelerate delivery of feedback to convenors
