1 Safety Intro

2 Warm up Pick up 1 Unit Tracker, and 2 Safety contracts.
On your unit tracker take 3 minutes to answer the things you are curious about and set your goals for the unit. **Have out your COMPLETED “Classification of Matter” - it is your first entry on the back** Date Assignment title Completion Stamp Comment 8/22 Classification of matter POGIL

3 Warm up Silently begin the warm up on the worksheet titled “Safety Notes” Objective: Learn how can you keep yourself, classmates and teacher safe in the chemistry classroom.

4 Safety Demonstrations
Please take notes on each demonstration. Write down what you observe happen. Write down what the demonstration represents. Acid in the eye - why we wear goggles Holey Socks - why we wear closed toed shoes, etc Pie in the face - why we don’t wear shop glasses Vapor ramp - why we tie our hair up and make sure the gas is off when not lit

5 Safety Tour Please listen carefully to instructions on the safety equipment found in the chemistry room Write down the name of each item Take notes on what it does and when to use it

6 Safety Contract Lots of things to remember but most are common sense
Remember your safety, and the safety of your classmates, teacher and school are #1 Read them through, we will quiz on Monday A few to explain:

8 Closure In the space provided on the note sheet write down 3 ways you can help keep yourself, your classmates and your teacher safe in the chemistry classroom. HW: Signatures on: Safety Contract signatures Study: Quiz MONDAY on Safety – must get 100%
