2 BACKGROUND Two Store Department Managers , Shawn Cheever and William Young, shared with us about opportunities for and expectations of BEST BUY employees. Just about all of their points of expectations have been the same as other employers we have talked with over time, In all our career classes, we have tried to point out the importance of critical behaviors. There were several areas of expectations that our students should be reminded of that are not only important to employers but critical for our students to obtain a job.

4 RESUME´ Stacked volunteer work Complete classes pertaining to job
passions special skills (i.e. sign language, 2nd language) Complete why you want job your realistic expectations from the job references experience

5 INTERVIEW Department managers interview/hire for own department May recommend to other department heads Business attire a ‘must’ for interview Applicants must present themselves positively- communications (grammar, body language, language, written{if needed}) Sell yourself (what do you have to offer to the company?)

6 OPPORTUNITIES Chance to learn transferrable skills for a career in other fields of interest Chance to use your skills to advance in the company Chance to work world wide Chance to help all types of people (from “happy” to “hateful”) solve problems Could work part-time to full-time Employee benefits for both FT and PT

7 PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Appearance attire body art (varies from store to store) cleanliness Communications will talk to customers a year verbal language usage (profanity is immediate firing) body language (do you have an interest/passion for your job?) Show you believe in where you are working company will teach you the “job knowledge” 30 days to prove you are learning and helping meet goals

absences reports appearance Use of company time help where needed abuse of cell phone (texting, facebooking, games) assisting customers
