1 Sneak Peek Weekend Acivities
American Sign Language I

2 What will I learn… Rhetorical Questions – What are they and why they aren’t really a question? Negation Statements – I’m already using them, so what are they? Time – How do I use tense in ASL? Culture – Why do Deaf people share everything?

3 Why learn that? Rhetorical questions and negation statements occur differently in ASL than English. Time aspects clarify concepts in ASL. Awareness of Deaf values allows you to participate within the Deaf community. Knowing more about ASL helps make you a fluent signer.

4 What will I be expected to do?
Participate in class activities I will work during class to learn new vocabulary and understand new concepts. Homework Reading/Response I will read about cultural aspects of Deaf Culture and respond accordingly. I will participate in dialogue with other students to improve my ASL skills Projects I will participate in one project that shows my skills related to ASL sentence structure, glossing, and vocabulary. Planning a Weekend Project Test I will show my knowledge of ASL Rhetorical Questions, Negation Statements, and Time Concepts in a test style format.

5 How can I study?
