8.4: Calculating and Interpreting Standard Deviation

DO NOW George recorded how many jewels he captured in a none minute videogame. Use the data set to compute: Quartile 1 Quartile 3 IQR Lower fence Upper fence Construct a box-and-whisker plot using the answers form the previous questions. Remember: IQR = Q3 –Q1 LF= Q1 – (IQE * 1.5) UF= Q3 + (IQR * 1.5)

Lesson 8.4: Calculating and Interpreting Standard Deviation
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lessons, students will be able to: Calculate and interpret the standard deviation of a data set. Compare the standard deviation of data set

Common Core Standards

KEY TERMS Standard Deviation is the measure of how spread out the data is from the mean. Normal Distribution is a collection of many data points that form a bell-shaped curve

Standard Deviation A lower standard deviation represent a data that are more tightly clustered. A higher standard deviation represents data that are more spread out from the mean.
