For example: In English it is “I like something.” In Spanish it is “To me, something is pleasing.”

I like the pool. ENGLISH GRAMMAR: “like” is the verb “I” is the subject “the pool” is the direct object SPANISH GRAMMAR: “like” is the verb “the pool” is the subject “I” is the direct object Crazy, right?! But that’s how it is. You make the sentence backwards. Don’t worry- it’s on the next page.

5 How to write a sentence with Gustar
For example: I like to play sports. First, you do the subject (play sports) practicar deportes 2. Second, you put in the verb (like) gustan practicar deportes 3. Finally, you put in the direct object (I) So, it looks like this: Me gustan practicar deportes.

6 Let’s try it! I like the ball. I like going to the park.
Me gusta la pelota. I like going to the park. Me gusta ir a la parque. I like going to a restaurant. Me gusta ir a un restaurante. I like tennis. Me gusta tennis.
