End of KS1 Expectations Pupils are expected to recall and use the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

Let’s have a go! Show me two groups. Put 5 counters in each group.
How many counters altogether? We can show this by writing a number sentence : 5 x 2 = 10 Repeat the same steps with 5 groups.

6 x 5 = 30 10 x ? = 20 5 + 5 = 2 x True or false? 5 x 5 < 3 x Convince me! Miss Shaheen says ‘3 x 5 is the same as 5 x 3’. Is she right? Prove it!

How can I support my child with their times tables?
Practise recalling the 2, 5 and 10 times tables so your child builds fluency. Time table Rock Stars is a great resource! Use it! Use time tables in every day situations. Counting pairs of socks, using hands to count in 5’s. Cover a number on the times table. What number am I and how do you know? Use pictorial to convince me.
