Important Information:
Bridges plans are only open for editing until February 17th Course Selections for will be viewable in HAC starting on March 6th and confirmations will be given to students on March 24th How to make changes March 24th - April 7th 1. Print Bridges 4 Year Plan 2. Note any desired changes and sign the plan 3. Submit plan to your child’s counselor who will make changes No elective changes will be made after April 7th

Course Basics Select enough courses to fill 7 periods
Consider graduation requirements (foreign language, fine art, PE, speech, and electives) Consider their career goals Find pre-requisites If two semesters average to a 70 the student will receive 1 full year of credit Students receive 0.5 credits a semester for each class they successfully pass

Athletic Considerations
Only one athletic period at a time There are tryouts for most sports Some athletic programs begin in the summer – Check athletics page on website towards end of year. (Ex: Football, Cross Country, Volleyball) If you do not make the team, you will be placed in PE All athletics require a PHYSICAL EXAM every year

Schedule Change Policy
During the school year, a student may request a change in course level only at certain times of the semester according to District policy. Before a change in level request can be made: Student, parent(s), and teacher must conference No missing assignments and must attend tutorials

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)
What is AVID? A college preparatory that places students with potential in advanced classes and provides them with critical support All AVID students are required to be in at least one advanced course (PreAP, AP, Dual) while enrolled in the program. National Honor Society
National Honor Society is an honor and privilege extended by the faculty to deserving students of Kingwood Park High School. Invitation given to students beginning fall of Sophomore year if they have an overall Cumulative GPA of 4.0 and meet certain criteria Must apply for membership and prove both leadership and service Leadership points may be earned through: Leadership/Officer positions in clubs, leading service projects, lettering, KP Merit Awards, and leadership conferences Service points may be earned through: Club and organization membership, athletics, fine arts, FFA, StuCo, community groups, and community service For detailed info, visit NHS website located on KPark Webpage under the ACTIVITES tab.

Dual Credit Requires passing scores on TSI Assessment Earn up to 4 hours of college credit per class Options: English 4, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, US History, Government, Economics, French, and Spanish College Prep Earn up to 3 hours of college credit per class No Remedial classes once you enter college Options: English Prep and College Algebra Prep No TSI required
