3 What is it? -Blended Model -Three-Rotation Model Incorporates meaningful technology use with face-to-face instruction in small group rotations aiken county public school district

4 Why THIS Model? *Allows face-to-face time with EVERY student *Gets students up & moving *Technology directly correlates with skills being covered *If a students masters/exceeds expectations in one station, they can rotate to another station aiken county public school district

5 Kim, A. (2014). Rotational Models Work for Any Classroom.
Research "The role of technology is to meet students where they are and bring them forward or advance them.” ~ Anthony Kim (2014) Kim, A.  (2014).  Rotational Models Work for Any Classroom.  aiken county public school district

11 How it Works Use Lexile levels and Math Inventory quartiles to group students 5 per group Post rotation schedule in room Use timer to end rotations 20 minutes per station (approx.) aiken county public school district

12 MATH aiken county public school district

13 Teacher-Led Small Group
Mon. & Wed. – Teach/Re-Teach current 6th grade skill w/ guided practice Tues. & Thurs. – Tutor on current Pre- Algebra skill Fri. – Quiz on current 6th grade skill aiken county public school district

15 ELA Remediation period for students not reading on grade level and not enrolled in the Read 180 course Independent Literacy Lounge Students read for pleasure on a Lexile level 50 points above or 50 points below their level based on Reading Inventory scores. Computer Station/Study Ladder Students complete lessons assigned by the teacher based on their level Small Group Instruction Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) Students are guided and prompted based on reading needs aiken county public school district

The book should be between 50 points above or 50 points below their Lexile level based on recent Reading Inventory. “When we are pressed for time, independent reading is usually the first thing cut. However, a carefully monitored independent reading program is the single most important part of your reading instructional program.” - Regie Routman aiken county public school district

24 Your turn to be the student!
Assemble into small groups and choose a station When you hear this sound, rotate clockwise to the next station aiken county public school district
