What Are Stars? By: Matthew Safoniuk

What are Stars Stars themselves are large fixed luminescent balls in space they have their own gravitational pull. They are made up of mostly hydrogen, and helium, but contain other elements like oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and so on. Stars burn Hydrogen and make Helium, without the use of oxygen. The star closest to us is the sun.

What kinds of stars are there?
There are a quite a few different types of stars, one of the many types is, The Main Sequence, Red Giant Stars, White Dwarfs, Neutron Stars, Black Holes, Brown Dwarfs, And Variable Stars. The biggest type of star is a Yellow Hyper Giant star, and the smallest is a Red Dwarf. The Red Giant Star is the brightest type of star, and the dullest type is a Red Dwarf Star.

Birth Of Stars: A star is born when atoms of light elements are squeezed under enough pressure for their nuclei to undergo fusion. All stars are the result of a balance of forces: the force of gravity compresses atoms in interstellar gas until the fusion reactions begin.

Death Of Stars: Most stars take millions of years to die. When a star like the Sun has burned all of its hydrogen fuel, it expands to become a red giant. This may be millions of kilometres across big enough to swallow the planets Mercury and Venus.

What is the Life Cycle Of Stars?
It starts off as a stellar nebula then it has two paths it can go, The Average Star or The Massive Star. Lets start with the Massive Stars next stage, The Red Super giant, after The Red Super Giant, comes The Supernova, after The Supernova, there are two other paths, The Neutron Star, and The Black hole. Lets look at The Average Star, the next stage after The Average Star, comes The Red Giant, after The Red Giant, comes The Planetary Nebula, and last but not least is the White Dwarf.

What Kind Of Star Do We Have?
In our galaxy The Milky Way, we have at least 100 billion stars, and the biggest one that Earth rotates around, is The Sun, the sun is a Dwarf Star, A Yellow Dwarf Star. It takes approximately 100,000 light years to make it across the entire galaxy.

Conclusion In conclusion, there are quite a few different stars, each of them having unique features too each one of them. Our universe is an almost endless expanse of space and stars. All of them with unique features.
