Thomas signed a lease for an apartment
Thomas signed a lease for an apartment. After a month living there, he noticed that the upstairs was never warm—even if he turned the heat up all the way. He called the main office and they told him to put a space heater in his room, even though it violated a fire safety section of the lease. Thomas wrote down the name of the secretary and the date of his call to verify that he was told to put the heater there. Century Apartments is now taking Thomas to court for a $500 safety violation, but he refused to pay the fine. Is this a criminal or civil case? _________________________________________________ Category: Misdemeanor Felony Family Property Contract Tort Who is the plaintiff? ___________________Who is the defendant? _________________ Standard of Proof: Preponderance of Evidence Beyond A Reasonable Doubt Who do you think will win this case?
