“The Living Water” The Mikveh Ministry
2
Travelling through Egypt and Jordan is driving through the desert!
The Sahara, the Sinai, the Arabah are all dry, dusty, and barren without anything green or water – what a powerful spiritual picture!
3
What an awesome picture
After the desert, anywhere there is fresh running water is a miracle from God. So refreshing from the heat, the dust and exhaustion – sweet wonderful running water! Running Water is called “Living Water – Hayim Mayim” Jesus promises us Living Water What an awesome picture of Jesus Messiah And the Holy Spirit!

The Ministry of the Mikveh!
Purifying Oneself to Enter the Presence of God! Complete body immersion was required in a Mikveh before any Jew could enter God’s Presence – the Holy Temple Immersion was seen as an act of repentance and purification from everyday life. You enter the mikveh in a state of unpurity and re- emerge as like one newly born or “born again.” The mikveh had to be Living water. If no ritual pool was available - any river or ocean or flowing stream would work!

“The Ministry of the Mikveh”
Law of Purification for Jews: Entering Temple on Feast Days Entering Priesthood Marriage After Childbirth and Menses Any Sexual or Physical Impurity Any Animal Sacrifice After touching anything dead Jews in Jesus’ day were familiar with the washing away of sin. So they didn’t think John was strange because he was preaching a baptism of repentance for sins. The priesthood in Jerusalem was corrupt……What was amazing was what and where John was preaching and that he was dressed like the Prophet Elijah!
6
“I indeed baptize you with water, but One mightier that I is coming: I am not worthy to unloose the latchet of his shoes He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.”
7
“And Lo, the heavens opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending
like a dove, and lighting upon Him, and a voice from heaven, saying, ‘This is My Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17

Just like every young priest He immerses in the mikveh
Jesus presents Himself for Baptism at age 30 Just like every young priest He immerses in the mikveh John, as eldest son of the priest Zachariah, officiates God speaks from Heaven saying “This is My Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased” These same words used by High Priest to ordain every new priest into ministry at age 30 Jesus begins His miracle ministry lead by the Holy Spirit! Also Jesus, the the Lamb of God, is immersed by John. Every lamb must be ceremonially washed by the priest before offered as a sacrifice. John has the authority of the priestly lineage to officiate Jesus’ public immersion so He could become the spotless sacrifice who takes away the sins of the world.

After the Mikveh in the Jordan River
Jesus begins His teaching ministry Miracles happen everywhere He goes John 9:1-12 Jesus anoints the eyes of he blind man and said to him, “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam.” The Ministry of the Mikveh!

Jesus – The Living Water – The Feast of Tabernacles John 7:37-39
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If any man thirst, let him come to Me, and drink. He that believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” (But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believe in Him should receive; for the Holy Ghost was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

More Living Water verses John Chapter 4
The Pharisees now know that Jesus’s disciples are now baptizing more people that John, so Jesus leaves Judea for the Galilee. He has to pass through Samaria and stops to rest at Jacob’s well….there he meets a woman drawing water about 3pm and being thirsty He asks her for a drink. The Samaritan woman is amazed that a Jew would ask anything of a Samaritan…..
15
John 4:1-30
16
10. Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that says to you, ‘Give Me to drink,’ you would have asked of Him, and He would have given you living water.” 13. Jesus answered and said to her, “Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again, 14 but whosoever drinks of the water that I give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
