1 MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

3 Workshops and Training
Throughout June there will be a number of workshops for Years 7 to 10 students as well as for parents and training for staff.

4 Year 7 Each tutor group will have a workshop delivered by The Samaritans on Active Listening Skills

5 Year 8 Assembly and small workshop delivered by Jake Wellings, Breaking Through Coaching, on emotional resilience and being emotionally prepared for learning.

6 Year 9 Each Tutor Group will have the Heads-Up Workshop delivered by Hear Our Voice

7 Year 10 All Year 10 students have already completed the Mind and Body Survey and a group of students are taking part in a series of 6 Workshops to support Emotional Resilience, Anger Management and recognising risk taking behaviour.

8 Parental Workshops Hear Our Voice are running Parental Workshops on 13th and 27th June in order to raise awareness of mental health issues impacting on young people today, recognising the signs and symptoms and signposting to support.

9 Staff Training During June there will also be additional training for pastoral staff and adults working on a 1:1 basis with students.

Good mental health is an asset that helps us to thrive If Young People are to thrive and not just survive, it is important to help them manage and understand their mental health, reduce their risk as well as identifying when they may need additional support.

12 Mind & Body Survey Over 600 Young People in Cornwall have completed this survey and results so far indicate that: 60% said they had felt depressed for 6 or more days in the last month Over 2 in 5 young people said they worry about how others perceive them, either “often” or “All the time”. Initial results suggest that female pupils are more likely to be tired, depressed, worried and generally more stressed than male pupils.
