Why Change ? Why Now? To reduce the risk to staff where possible across the trust in line with the EU safer sharps in healthcare directive. To reduce the number of types of equipment staff need to learn how to use. To provide clinical products selected by clinical staff for clinical staff.

Key Aims? To increase staff safety
To look to reduce costs involved in the use of safer devices To provide equipment that delivers improved clinical benefits To provide all the information staff need to order and use products.

Local Anesthetic Syringes Product Features: Sterile Packaging, Prefixed Needles, Temporary & Locked Needle Guard Safe-Inject Why we chose it: Needs no needle removers, and allows change of cartridge. What staff said: We find these very helpful as the whole unit is disposable.

Cannula Sub Cutaneous Product Features: Safer as has no indwelling sharps, Passive sharp protection system BD Saf-T- Intima Why we chose it: Licensed product for sub cutaneous infusions that can also be used for IV access What staff said: Makes it much safer delivery care as no needle to become dislodged

Scalpel Blade Removers Features: A non touch system, To address staff needs where disposable scalpels are not suitable Blade flasks, Removers, Why we chose them: Allow the operator to stay behind the blade. What staff said: We find these good for staff who are not experienced in blade removal.
