1 Warm-up: Think about as many creation myths from other cultures’ religions and/or mythologies as you know. What are some similarities? Differences? What are the important parts? What do these myths reflect about the cultures from which they originate? Now chat with your table partner and combine lists.

2 Other popular Chinese myths
On your notes, write down what you think is significant from the following Chinese myths and stories (alert: cheesiness ahead!): The 10 Suns: Tale of the 4 Dragons:

3 If you existed before time and space, how would you create the universe?
Start with “In the beginning…” and write your own creation myth about how the following were created: 1. Light and dark 2. Planets, stars, sun, etc. 3. The earth, including land and water masses 4. Animals 5. Humans *** Feel free to add more details, such as where plants/flowers came from, how evil began, etc. Try to emulate the Chinese creation myth. For example, incorporate things that are important to you (e.g. dragons are important to the Chinese, so their creator was one).

Alive during the Song Dynasty Wrote lyric poetry Wrote six volumes of poetry and seven volumes of essays but most of that has been lost/
