1 The Respiratory System!!
Science Project Due Nov.10th By: Leta Short, Morgan Boudreau & Jonathan Drysdale

2 Respiratory System!! The respiratory system is a very important system in the body. It allows you to breath and survive. A major function of this system is gas exchange. My amazing Human Body CD-Rom

3 What organs are in the Respiratory system!!
Lungs – Breathing organ that collects oxygen. Windpipe - Carries oxygen from the throat to the lungs. Blood Vessels- A tube that blood circulates through.

4 What the organs do!! Lungs- these allow you to breath and store oxygen. Windpipe- Allows you to suck air down into your lungs. Blood Vessels- Takes air from your lungs and takes it to the rest of your body.

5 How the organs work together!!
The windpipe sucks air down into the lungs then the blood vessels inside the lungs allow the oxygen to pass through the rest of the body. Then when you breath out your lungs let out Carbon Dioxide.

6 How two systems work!! (Respiratory & Circulatory Systems) (Respiratory) Oxygen is taken in through the windpipe taken down to the lungs and (Circulatory) blood vessels in the lungs take the oxygen to the rest of the body.

7 Tissues!! Epithelial Tissue Nerve Tissue
A major characteristic of this tissue is that the cells are arranged together. Nerve Tissue The tissue help us to make connections to our environment by sensing stimuli. ( like a hand on the stove)

8 Tissues!! Connective Tissue
Connective tissue is like the glue of the body it holds the body together as one organism. It protects and repairs, feeds the cells and takes away waste also it helps us grow. Muscle Tissue There’re three major kinds of muscle tissues smooth, cardiac & skeletal. All of them work together to make up 40 to 50 % of your body mass.

9 Did You Know?? Some people who play wind instruments have a special way of breathing. During your lifetime an average person takes about 600 million breaths of air. When you are asleep your breathing rate slows down. You breathe about 12 times a minute when your asleep and about 18 times a minute when your awake.

10 Bibliography!! http://www.sirinet.net/~jgjohnso/respsyspic.html
My amazing Human Body CD-Rom Science text 8 book Lungs (book)

11 Activities!! Take a deep breath and blow in the balloon until you run out of air. Keep hold of the neck of the balloon to stop the air from getting out. The air in your balloon is only half of what you inhaled. My Amazing Human Body CD-Rom

12 Thank-you!!!
