2 The Romans came to Britain in 43 AD and changed the country
The Romans came to Britain in 43 AD and changed the country. In August 55 B.C. (55 years before Jesus was born) the Roman general, Emperor Julius Caesar invaded Britain for the first time. He took with him two Roman legions. After winning several battles against the Celtic tribes (Britons) in south-east England he returned to France. The Romans remained in  Britain from 43 AD to 410 AD. That is almost four hundred years (four centuries).

3 The original name of London was Londinium which came from the Romans who founded it.

5 -The White Tower was built by the Norman - William the Conqueror.
-The date the White Tower was built was between 1078 – 1097. -The Chief Architect and Master Builder of the White Tower was Gundulf, Bishop of Rochester. -The Norman Architecture / Style of the Medieval White Tower is described as Norman (Romanesque). -The purpose of the White Tower was to provide a power base for the Norman invaders and control and intimidate the people of the City of London.

6 The summer of 1666 was very hot and dry in London
The summer of 1666 was very hot and dry in London. On a Sunday in September a great fire broke out in the city. It began late at night at Thomas Farriner's bakery in Pudding Lane not far from London Bridge . It continued 5 days and destroyed the major part of the city. The Monument now stands on the spot to remind people of the terrible flames. Sir Christopher Wren drew the plan of the new city.

9 The Commonwealth of Nations is a group of countries
The Commonwealth of Nations is a group of countries. Originally, it was called the British Commonwealth of Nations which was founded in 1926 when the British Empire began to break-up. Now, there are 53 member countries of the Commonwealth of Nations. All except Mozambique were part of the British Empire.

10 The head of the UK is The Queen
The head of the UK is The Queen. However, the real power belongs to the parliament. David Cameron is the Prime Minister of the UK, the head of government.
