9 25% of water is used on showers & baths
25% of water is used on showers & baths. What is the average time people use their showers? With flow restrictor it uses approx 9 ltrs/min. (without 25ltr/min.) How many people use it in your household? How large is your hot water cylinder? Do the maths. Leaking toilets can use 10ltr/hour (water running into the bowl) Dripping taps can use 10ltr/day (and use energy in case of hot water) Flow restrictors are easy to install to existing showerheads and are also available for taps. The efergy monitors the amount of water you use. The 4 minute timer might be a cheaper and easier option to reduce shower time. There are also electronic versions available that give a warning beep when you exceed the pre-set shower time External hot water cylinders are becoming common in Tasmania. Outside temperature can drop to -5 degrees in winter, making them less efficient and more expense.

Oil filled column heater 2.4KW Pureheat 8.5KW (often installed in housing commission properties) Artificial flame – 0.9/1.8KW

Discuss leaving heat on vs switching off overnight. (see next slide) Its more economical to turn of the heat pump when you go to bed and switch it back on when you get up
