2 Purpose of Senior Parent Meeting
To prepare WHS seniors for college and career To bridge student, parent and school communication on critical deadlines and information during their Senior year. All stakeholders working together! -students, parents, school and community.

3 WHS Goals 100% meet graduation requirements
100% able to attend a college or post- secondary school of their choice. 50% + meet the A-G requirements Exceed $400,000 in scholarships

4 WHS Diploma Requirements
Credits (220 total) -Required Classes (165 credits) -Electives (55 credits) 85 Hrs of Youth Service Learning Completion of Student Portfolio and Senior Exit Interview Pass both components of the CAHSEE (High School Exit Exam)

5 WHS Graduation Ceremony Participation Requirements
94% + Attendance Rate (while enrolled at WHS) Score a Basic Level (3) or higher on California Standards Tests (CST’s) *If student falls below a basic level on CST’s, he/she must pass an equivalency test provided by the district (ELA/Math/SS) Deadline = May 23, 2014

6 Additional Graduation Ceremony & Senior Activities Participation Requirements
May 23,2014: Student debts must be cleared. All Saturday schools must be cleared (last Saturday school is May 24th) May 4th – June 6th: Seniors cannot receive a Saturday school or suspension.

7 Senior Activities Grad night = May 28th Senior picnic = May 30th
Graduation ceremony = June 6 Sober Grad = June 6

8 Counseling & College Admission
Guide students towards college resources Assist students with applications and essays- through workshops & individual appointments Write letters of recommendation Connect students with College Representatives (Please see handouts and bulletin for these dates)

9 FAFSA Workshops CASH FOR COLLEGE WORKSHOP on February 19th, 2014
in Rm. 10 At 6:00 P.M.

10 COS Registration Dates
COS Application Workshop –Feb. 12th in Room 10 Periods 1-5 (all seniors are required to submit a COS Admission application) COS Placement Tests –February 14 & 19, 2014 (seniors will be assigned a date based on their most recent math course completed)

11 SCHOLARSHIPS Fresno State Scholarship Application – students who may possibly attend Fresno State this Fall should apply. To access the application go to: WHS Local Scholarship Application – All WHS students with a 2.5 or higher GPA and must have all 85 community service hours turned in. To access application go to:

12 IMPORTANT DATES March 2, 2014 – Deadline to submit FAFSA Application, Local Scholarship Application. April 4th & 11th , 2014 – All seniors will have their senior exit interview. Must pass to graduate! May 2, 2014 – Deadline to complete the required 85 hours of community service. June 4th, 2014 – All seniors must be cleared (by Library, Office, & Counseling).

15 Grad Night ON MAY 28TH Bus Leaves at 6:30 A.M. and returns at 6:30 A.M. the next morning (May 29th) Price = $135.00
