His father was an organ repairer and his mother was a piano tuner
His career began off in France as a singer, writer and producer of pop songs
Known for writing a mixture of drama, and comedy

3. Musicals Often times collaborated with lyricist Alain Boublil
The duo first teamed up in 1973 to write their first musical: La Revolution Française
Again in 1978, they teamed up to write the score of  Les Misérables which opened up in Paris two years later
 In the fall of 1989, they teamed up once more to write another hit musical Miss Saigon

4.  Les Misérables
First opened in 1980 in Paris, and in 2006, (Broadway Revival)
Won Tony Award for Best Musical, Score, Book
Undergoing Multiple Productions Worldwide
2012, received its own film
