HADES slow controls HADES collaboration meeting XXIII GSI, Darmstadt

2 Upgrade (CAMAC) DAQ upgrade influenced SCS:
Old hardware was removed and replaced by custom built boards TOF CAMAC crates with CFDs are gone TOF TRB boards are now used by DAQ to set thresholds No more CAMAC needed Burkhard Kolb GSI

3 Upgrade (VME) VME crates with CPUs for readout are gone
Replaced by TRB boards Wiener VME crate control not needed any more Power control for TRBs by TDK/Lambda power supplies Power distribution boards Burkhard Kolb GSI

4 Upgrade (CTS) The VULOM board (VME) was removed
Now with more functionality in CTS board Replaces most of the trigger logic Replaces the scalers for beam and triggers Control via EPICS IOC and trbcmd server Needs some work to write daq compatible script files Burkhard Kolb GSI

5 CTS via EPICS Burkhard Kolb GSI

6 Upgrade (RPC) Gas system for RPC was implemented Based on HADCon
Uses CANbus and 1-wire bus Flow controller/meter Pressure sensor Temperatures Burkhard Kolb GSI

7 RPC gas system Burkhard Kolb GSI

8 Software upgrades For RPC the MEDM GUI is replaced by CSS
Archiver and data server updated Trending data can be seen in CSS CANbus control moved from VME to HADcons More sequencers are built for unattended operation Burkhard Kolb GSI

9 Conclusion Hardware is constantly changed
Abstraction and system approach helps Software (EPICS) framework stays Backward compatible to oldest parts New GUI concepts (CSS) fit seamlessly Provides new functionality (trending) Need manpower to convert all old MEDM screens to CSS Alarm handling in CSS needs some work Burkhard Kolb GSI
