Precincts by Gender and Percent Voter Turnout

19 Gender Summary We tried to analyze who’s voting based on gender, but the proportions of males and females ended up being statistically equal in all blocks. Based on the voting and census data that we have, we were unable to conclude significant differences of voting between males and females in Alachua County.

21 Income of Voters by Precinct

22 Summary of Income In this map we have tried to determine if having a higher income and education level correlated with a high percentage of voters voting by precinct. The precincts highlighted in blue represent high income level and high voter turnout (30 precincts). The precincts highlighted in red represent low income level and high voter turnout (13 precincts). Yellow corresponds to low income and low turnout (22 precincts), and Black indicates high income and low voter turnout (4 precincts).

23 Income cont. Thru this data we can see that our initial assumption was approximately correct. With the exception of 4 precincts that were Black, the high income college educated voters were the majority of voters in Alachua county. The next highest number of precincts on this map was the low income low voter turnout. This shows with some certainty that the people making the decisions in Alachua county are the voters with higher income and higher education levels.

25 Race of Voters by Precinct

26 Summary of Voter Turnout Based on Race
Most of Alachua county is predominantly white. Areas with a high black population are located in east Gainesville. Precincts with a high population of white voters had a wide range of voter turnout, from 30-60%. Precincts with a high black population had low voter turnout 36-46%. With the exception of north Gainesville the precincts within the city limits had a lower turnout than in the surrounding areas.
