Reappointment Review Reviewed about every year Committees and administrators at several levels In sixth year, reviewed for promotion (and tenure) Visitors are temporary (but can apply for open positions)

Expectations for promotion
Tenure-track Asst. Clinical Assistant Lecturer Asso. faculty Teaching Must be satisfactory* (3 classes/semester or 75% time) Must be excellent (3-4 classes/semester or % of time) (4 classes/semester or 100% time) Scholarship/Creative activities (25% time) Must be satisfactory (local/state level or doctoral progress) Not required Not required* Service Must be satisfactory (No time given unless major role) Comments *Either Teaching or Scholarship must be excellent Teaching must be excellent. Scholarship and service must be satisfactory. Teaching must be excellent and service satisfactory. *Either scholarship or service must be satisfactory What is satisfactory? What is excellent? Check with your unit!

Get the unit PTR statement!
Get the one from when you were hired. Get dept. AND school statement, if you are in dept. If it changes before you go up, you may use the original one or the new one.

What to do NOW? Do: Teach well, start research (if TT), do fair share of service Document: Make folders in Box to mirror the eDossier (handout) Be thorough in Annual Report in January Update everything for each reappointment Consult with chairs, mentors, UCET as needed

Submit dossier (electronic) with documentation August of the start of 6th year Most are successful—if not, you have one more year on your appointment
