These scriptures tell us that our body was formed of dust then we became a living soul when God breathed that eternal soul into us. In Ecclesiastes we see that our body returns to dust and that spirit breathed into us returns to the One who gave it to us.

Click This scripture shows us that while we are here in our body that we are absent from the Lord- we do have the indwelling of the Spirit, prayer and fellowship through His word. But Paul here was saying it would be much better to be absent from this body and in the presence of the Lord.

Let’s talk about the name Hell in the Bible. First let’s look to what is used in the Old Testament, the word for Hell in Hebrew.

Looking to the New Testament we see the word for Hell in Greek, referred to as Hades.
So whether you hear Sheol or Hades they both are referred to as Hell in Scripture and mean the abode of the dead… this is a place where you’re soul is prejudged and goes to either the Place of Torment or Paradise/Abraham’s Bosom.
