Apply to Georgia colleges, universities, and technical colleges Learn about financial aid information Send transcripts View your preliminary HOPE Grade Point Average Your social security number must be on file at PRHS and in your GA Futures profile to view your HOPE GPA. Your name on file with GA Futures account must match your name as it appears on your PRHS transcript/report card.

8 How do I apply for College?
Common Application/Electronic Application Transcripts for out of state schools are ordered through the counseling office for $5. Sending Electronic Transcripts Send to most in state schools for free via GA Futures $5 one time fee for common app or other online applications Sending Test Scores (Official) Letters of Recommendation Meet ALL deadlines

9 Types of College Applications
Early Action: (non binding) Students can apply to multiple schools early. Early admission programs do not ask applicants to commit to attending. Early Decision: (binding) When applying early decision, you are signing a binding agreement that if accepted, you will attend that school and withdraw the remainder of your other college applications. Regular Decision: These applications take place during the standard application time period. Decisions are usually made in April or May. Rolling Admissions: These colleges have open admissions until they have reached their capacity. Students are considered in the order in which they apply. Deferment: Students are not denied when deferred. Decision for acceptance has been postponed until further evaluations have been completed.

11 Recommendations Letters of recommendation
Complete Autobiographical Sketch found on PRHS website and also paper copies available in the counseling office You may need one from a teacher or a counselor Give us time! 10 school days! If due before Thanksgiving break, Nov. 4 is the request deadline If due before Christmas break, Dec 7 is the request deadline

12 Where to apply to college
Apply to 4 schools on average. Reach, Target, Safety! Attend a College Fair/Probe Fair. Visit college campuses. Prearranged absence form for this reason. Pick up form in attendance office. Watch the bulletin board across from the counseling for recruiters coming to PRHS.

13 Factors to Consider Location – distance from home, urban, rural
Size – enrollment, class size Cost – public or private Academic – majors offered Admission requirements – deadlines, average test scores, GPA, rank, AP/IB recognition policies Housing – residence halls, meal plans Activities – Greek life, athletics, organizations

COMPLETE THE FAFSA APPLICATION COMPLETE THE GSFAPPS FORM: Your social security number must be on file at PRHS : If a copy is not on file with PRHS, you MUST bring your social security card to the counselor’s office by December 1, 2016. : Your social security number must also be in your GAFutures profile
