3 American Horror Story: Format
American horror story is an anthology series. Each season is branded a ‘mini series’ with a cryptic title, each with its own story line and specific characters. The genre of AHS is a mix of horror, erotic thriller and anthology Each season contains roughly between episodes, whereas season six was an exception and has only 10.

4 American Horror Story: Narrative Structure
AHS is both sequential and non-sequential, using flashbacks and time jumps between years. AHS is normally non-realist, dabbling in realism, an example of realism in AHS is season six: Roanoke which is based on the lost colony of Roanoke. AHS makes good use of open endings during most of the series but always have a dramatic and clear closed ending during the seasons finale

5 American Horror Story: Technical
Ahs makes good use of single camera techniques being a single camera production. Dolly shots are a common shot used in AHS and disturbing images are common place in the series. Lighting in AHS is subtle, warm and sets the scene. Natural lighting is used primarily but artificial lighting is used within the series’. The audio work is A.H.S. is dramatic but not dominant, focusing more on the actors abilities as an actor. The audio sets the scene and changes as the scene progresses becoming louder or softer. E.g. whenever a character is in mortal danger the music’s pitch heightens

Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a black comedy series but began as a short film idea. The genre of the series is a black comedy and sitcom So far, there have been eleven series’ with an episode count ranging from 7 to 15. Each episode revolves around one specific character whilst also showcasing the other characters in the background and showing them in the storyline.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is mainly a Non linear show, sometimes dabbling in a linear storyline. One episode that is linear is titled “Franks Brother” which sequentially introduces a new one off character to the show. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is a non-realist show, never using real life plots. Closed endings are entirely prevalent due to the fact that no two episodes are the same. The series doesn’t have a specific climax, it simply ends.
