2. History.! Mars can be seen with a naked eye at night.
The planet Mars is “red” because of the iron oxide on the surface. Iron oxide is created when iron rusts, therefore the planet becomes rusty.
Mars is also known as the Red Planet. It was named after the god of war because blood is red.
This planet is named after the Roman God of War!

3. Rotation & Revolution Mars orbits the sun in 686 to 687 days.
Its rotation is almost the same as Earth; 24 hours 37 minutes and 23 seconds!
it rotates in the same direction as earth.
Earth and Mars are very similar!

4. Distance.! Mars is 227,940,000 km from the sun.
When Mars is closest to Earth it is 35 million miles away. When it’s Farthest away from Earth it is about 250 million miles away.

5. Size & Density
Mars’ diameter at the equator is 6,792 kilometers, which is slightly more than half the size of Earth.
Mars’ is 7.08 x 1020 tons or 6.42 X 1020 metric tons!
It’s total density is grams
Mars is a terrestrial planet. No living thing has been found but Mars has water and other nutrients to be a terrestrial planet.

6. Temperature. (:
Mars is very cold because it is further from the Sun than Earth, and lacks a thick atmosphere to hold in heat.
Day-to-night temperature ranges from about 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) at noon; to about -100 degrees Fahrenheit (-73 degrees Celsius) at midnight.

7. Composition.! Mars’ surface is composed of mostly basaltic rock.
The remaining amount of surface is covered by random patches of green hues.
Most of Mars’ surface, though, is covered in reddish rock, sand, and soil.

8. Atmosphere. <3 Mars’ atmosphere is very thin.
It is made mostly of carbon dioxide.

9. Satellites. (: Mars has two potato shaped Satellites orbiting it.
Their names are Phobos and Deimos, named after the sons of the god Ares.

10. Physical Characteristics.!
The rocks, soil, and sky are pink7/red.
There are frozen ice caps on mars.
Volcanoes live on mars.
Mars has one of the longest canyon systems in the solar system.

11. What Would Life on Mars Be Like.?! (:
There would be a lot of rocks and debris everywhere.
You would see red because of the rust and dirt on it.

12. What Would Life Look Like on Mars.?! (:
There is no life on Mars because there is not enough oxygen .
On Mars there is too much radioactivity for any random person to go there.
Mars can get very very hot, or below freezing.
