Care Act: Implications for Safeguarding Adults
Make enquiries, or ensure others do so, if it believes an adult is subject to, or at risk of abuse or neglect. An enquiry should establish whether any action needs to be taken to stop or prevent abuse or neglect, and if so by who.

Scope of Safeguarding Is experiencing or is at risk of abuse or neglect and As a result of those needs is unable to protect himself or herself against the abuse or neglect or the risk of it.

Psychological Abuse Causing someone mental and emotional distress by using threats, humiliation, control, intimidation, harassment, verbal abuse or depriving them of contact with other people.

Key Care Act Requirements
To promote well-being and prevent abuse and neglect from happening in the first place. Ensure the safety and well-being of anyone who has been subject to abuse or neglect. Take action against those responsible for abuse or neglect taking place. Learn lessons and make change that could prevent similar abuse or neglect happening to other people.

Types of Abuse For older people,

Financial Abuse Financial or material abuse including theft, fraud, exploitation, pressure in connection with wills, property or inheritance or financial transactions, or the misuse or misappropriation of property, possessions or benefits. Care Act makes financial abuse a crime. Section 42 (3)
