Vision: Instructional Services is a dynamic leadership team that collaborates, innovates, and advances together to create optimal and equitable conditions for student and adult learning. Mission: Provide quality support and expertise that empowers: Management to lead Teachers to engage And students to succeed

4 Fremont Professional Learning Communities
What are PLCs? Professional Learning Communities are teams of educators who collaborate on a regular basis to improve student outcomes. By analyzing data and sharing research-based classroom practices, teachers will enrich their instruction which will result in improved learning for all students​.

5 Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Focus Areas Year One: 2015-16
Introduced the PLC big ideas to the district: 1) Focus on Learning; 2) Focus on Collaborative Teamwork; 3) Focus on Results Solution Tree presentations for all schools last year on August 20, 2015 and this year on August 25-26, 2016 Follow-up trainings by Solution Tree associates Janel Keating and Bill Ferriter throughout the school year Negotiated 16 hours of paid collaboration time for teachers in and 26 hours for Sent nearly 400 administrators and teachers to PLCs at Work conferences Formed collaborative teams at all sites Distributed Learning by Doing book to all certificated staff Created PLC webpage with staff resources

PLC Question 1: What do we want students to learn? Establish a Guaranteed & Viable Curriculum Priority Standards Secondary Core Subject Areas English Language Development (ELD) Elementary English Language Arts (ELA) & Mathematics Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Dual Immersion Program Standards (Mandarin & Spanish) PLC Question 2: How will we know if they’ve learned it? Develop a Comprehensive Assessment System District-wide Common Formative Assessments Illuminate DNA (data & assessment tool) Development of Proficiency Scales Begin Calibration of Grading Practices

Year Three: PLC Question 3: What will we do for those that didn’t learn it? Institute Timely & Appropriate Interventions PLC Question 4: How will we extend learning for those that already know it? Provide Enrichment Initial Plans--Will be updated after Year Two initiatives are underway: Special Education inclusive practices Restorative Practices (behavior prevention & intervention) Multi-Tier Systems of Support (MTSS) Coordination of Support Teams (COST) Summer School Programs
