What will the affect be? Some Facts and Figures
How the Olympics Affects Scheduling How the Olympics Affects Scheduling What will the affect be? Some Facts and Figures Of London’s 9200 mile road network, just 109 miles are on the Olympic Route Network and only 30 miles will have Games lanes. Over the Jubilee weekend TfL's public transport services carried up to a third more customers than on a normal weekend, whilst road traffic in central London was down by approximately 40 per cent.
5
How the Olympics Affects Scheduling
The TfL Mantra – the 4 Rs Reduce activity Re-time activity Revise delivery mode Re-route delivery
6
How the Olympics Affects Scheduling
What does this mean? Reduce activity Review delivery schedules – identify deliveries that could be brought forward or postponed. Communicate with customers – advise customers to place their orders early or, where possible, postpone non-urgent deliveries. See if orders can be consolidated. Collaborate with other businesses Get deliveries right first time (they said that, not me)
7
How the Olympics Affects Scheduling
What does this mean? Re-time activity Consider out-of-hours deliveries – can you deliver between midnight and 06:00 (but beware of other restrictions). Are your customers planning on changing working hours to avoid peak hours for their staff? Use secure drop boxes or other forms of unattended deliveries Avoid days that are most seriously affected
8
How the Olympics Affects Scheduling
