LESSON 11 Preachers in The Church. Do we need preachers in the church of Christ? From where do we get our preachers? Who makes preachers? Is it true that if you don’t come from Florida College, or from the Baxter Institute from Honduras, or from Abilene Christian College in Lubbock Texas you’re not a preacher? From where preachers comes from?

Can anyone that just “grabs” a Bible say: Well, I'm a preacher now, I know how to read John 3:16.
Are there “responsibilities” for the preacher? Is the preacher the “Pastor” of the church? Elder, Bishop and Shepherd = Elders of the church. The Pastor is not the preacher, unless this preacher fulfill the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

MEANING Define the word “preacher.” Define the word “evangelist.”
A herald or messenger; in the N. T., one who proclaims the gospel. Define the word “evangelist.” A bringer of good tidings (Acts 21:8). One of the sixth is making reference to what? Acts 6:1-6 right? Philip was both a Deacon and also an Evangelist of the church! Acts 21:8 (NKJV) 8 On the next day we who were Paul's companions departed and came to Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.

How is he to keep himself (1 Tim. 5:22)? 1 Timothy 5:22 (NKJV) 22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure.

In what is he to be an example (1 Tim. 4:12)? 1 Timothy 4:12 (NKJV) 12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

In General… Concerning the preacher’s personal appearance, how should it he regarded? How will his personal appearance add to or detract from his work and influence? What of his daily habits? Should he use tobacco—smoke or chew tobacco? Should he belong to the civic clubs, the ministerial Alliance, etc.? How should he balance his preaching and personal work (Acts 5:42)?
