2 History of UGA ! :) When the University of Georgia was put together by an act of the General Assembly on January 27, 1785, Georgia became the first state to charter a state-supported university. In 1784 the General Assembly had set aside 40,000 acres of land to provide a college or seminary of learning. At the first meeting of the board of trustees, held in Augusta on February 13, 1786, Abraham Baldwin was selected president of the university. The university graduated its first class in 1804.

Counseling Psychology: As a psychological specialty facilitates personal and interpersonal functioning across the life span with a focus on emotional, social, vocational, educational, health-related, developmental, and organizational concerns. Recreation and Leisure Studies : Students will gain broad knowledge and skills in the areas of administration and management of recreation and leisure services. Professional School Counseling: Is designed for students who have a master’s degree in school counseling or a closely related field.

7 Campus Life Miss UGA Pageant :To enhance their professional and educational goals, and to achieve those pursuits with the assistance of monetary grants and awards. The scholarship fund is based on a rich scholastic tradition that has been the cornerstone of the Miss America program since 1945. 4 Yr Rates 5 Yr Rates 6 Yr Rates Highest for African American students at 95%, followed by White students at 91% Hispanic and Asian cohorts at 90%. Composite group ranks Asians highest with a first to second year retention rate of 92% Followed by a rate of 86% for Whites, Hispanics, and African Americans 86% for males and 88% for females in the highly selective, public grouping

14 Admission Requirements and Deadlines
Applicants should have ranked in the upper half of their undergraduate class and should have completed the equivalent of an undergraduate major in the field in which they propose to study. Application for admission to the Graduate School may be filed in an electronic on-line application. All applicants must provide an active address for contact regarding application processing. Domestic applicants = $75 for the first major, $40 for the second major and $30 for the third major

15 Admission Requirements and Deadlines
An application must be accompanied by the application-processing fee. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be deferred or credited toward tuition. It must be paid online at the time the application is submitted using a credit card or electronic check, drawn on a U.S. bank account. Applications submitted without the fee will not be processed. Participation in certain programs may qualify an applicant to waive the application fee.
