6. New Diocesan Syllabus For Religious Education.
Working Party established made up of Diocesan RE Subject Leaders from Dioceses of Southwark and London.
Meetings during Summer Terms and Autumn Terms 2015 to write majority of the units,
included training for them on writing units of work.
In between each meeting RE Subject Leaders been completing their draft of units
Southwark and London Primary RE Advisers working on feedback, editing units and bringing coherence to whole syllabus along with additional work on syllabus.

Our recommendation: -
Throughout the syllabus: -
Two thirds Christianity
One third other principal world faiths
(Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism.)
This equates to 4 half-term units of Christianity
2 half-term units of the other principal world faiths
Schools can decide how to organise this.

17. New Diocesan RE Syllabus Structure.
For Primary schools
– to cover Foundation,
Different for Foundation Stage: -
6 half-term units wider themes that fit in with Early Learning Goals and have a strong Christianity focus, but are flexible enough for other faiths to be included as appropriate to the pupils, school context, etc.

KS1 = 4 units of 6 sessions each
4 units of 4 sessions each
4 units of 2 sessions each.
KS2 = 6 units of 6 sessions each
8 units of 4 sessions each
8 units of 2 sessions each.
includes: - Christmas for each Year Group
Easter for each Year group
Pentecost and Trinity.

Does mean that 1 faith won’t have a faith specific unit in KS2, but it will definitely be included in thematic KS2 units and could be included in any extra RE activities / opportunities that the school does.
